We are a church that is passionate about Jesus and sharing the Good News to all in our community. We meet weekly to express praise and gratitude to God through worship and teaching from Gods word (the Bible).
Whether you are a lifelong believer or exploring faith for the first time, you are welcome here. Join us for worship this Sunday and experience the joy and community that Northwoods offers.
We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to reach people far from God with the Good News of Jesus. We believe when you place your faith in Jesus he radically changes your life and we want to See what God can do through you!
We are committed to centering our lives around the words of scripture. We believe when we open Gods word it has the power to change our lives.
God has plans for everyone, but it begins with being in Christ and allowing him to change our hearts and llives.
When we become in Christ he gives us each a purpose to contribute to the kingdom in a unique way above just consuming from it.
When you have an encounter with the Living God you go from being a fan to a follower, you go from being the mission to being on mission. We will do anything short of sin to reach people with the Good News of Jesus, if there is one person in the lakes area who doesn't know Jesus we still have purpose.
We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion. Northwoods is a church dedicating to reaching people far from God with the Good News of Jesus. We are a family of people from all different backgrounds and traditions but unite for the common purpose of the mission.
We believe that there is only one God, creator of heaven and earth, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; each fully God yet each personally distinct from the other, equal in divine perfection (Matthew 28:19).
We believe God the Father is the creator, source, sustainer, and sovereign of all creation. He is just and holy, merciful, and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. The Father is called the first person of the Trinity. It was the Father who sent the His Son (John 4:34), who draws the people to the Son of God (John 6:37, 44), and who cannot be seen (John 6:46; 1 Timothy 6:16).
We believe that Jesus Christ, God’s only Son and the second Person of the Trinity, was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless human life, willingly took upon Himself all our sins, died and rose again bodily. He is now seated at the right hand of the Father as our advocate and mediator. Someday, He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.
We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, convicts the world of sin and draws people to Christ. He also indwells and baptizes all Christians at conversion. He is available to empower them to lead Christ-like lives and gives them spiritual gifts with which to serve the church and reach out to a lost and needy world.
We believe the Bible is the infallible, verbal inspiration of the word of God and that the Bible is the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice. It is the supreme and final authority on all matters upon which it teaches. There are no other writings that are vested with such divine authority (Psalm 119:160, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 1 Peter 1:21).
We believe that love for one another as Jesus loves the believer manifests our discipleship, proves our love for God and symbolizes our authority as a New Testament Church. Love is therefore the great commandment of the LORD Jesus Christ upon which all others are dependent (Matthew 22:35-40, John 13:34-35, John 15:12, 1 John 4:7-21, John 5:1-3, Revelation 2:4-5).
Northwoods is a member church of a Gospel focused network of churches called Converge in the North Central region. Converge is movement of churches working to help people meet, know and follow Jesus. We do this by starting and strengthening churches together worldwide. For 170 years we’ve helped churches bring life change to communities in the U.S. and around the world through church planting and multiplication, leadership training and coaching and global missions.
